FAQ

Everything you need to know about solar rooftop systems

Situated in a tropical region, Thailand is exposed to solar radiation all year round. Thailand has high radiation levels compared with its neighboring countries, and is only slightly below that of the United States and Australia -- hence the many untapped opportunities in the solar rooftop market.

You must obtain four types of permits before installing solar rooftops. Sermsang Infinite understands the processes involved in acquiring these permits and can assist you every step of the way. ่

  1. License No.1 (Building permit) from Sub-district Administrative Organization (SAO)
  2. License No.2 (Energy production permit) from the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE)
  3. Renewable energy business permit from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC)
  4. Electricity synchronization permit from the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) or the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA)

Installation should be completed within 1-3 weeks, depending on the surrounding environment and weather conditions.

With normal usage and regular maintenance, our solar rooftops typically have a lifespan of 25 years or more.

The BOI supports companies with solar rooftops by exempting 3 years of corporate income taxes and 10% of import taxes. This allows businesses to quickly gain a return on their investment.

Some commercial banks offer loans for solar rooftop installations under certain conditions. We can recommend trusted financial institutions and facilitate the entire funding process to get your project started.

You should select a model that generates just the right amount of electricity to meet your requirements to avoid paying too much for batteries and parts.

In the event of a power failure, the solar rooftop system will automatically shut itself off until the power issue is rectified. It is also able to produce electricity using radiation level sensors, even with minimal exposure to sunlight.

Tier 1 solar cell panels are produced by some of the top manufacturers in the world with at least 5 years’ history of producing solar panels. Tier 1 manufacturers represent only a small slice (2%) of the total number of manufacturers on the market. They invest heavily in research and development, use highly automated manufacturing techniques, and create panels from the ground up.

Solar rooftop systems are comprised of two main components:

  • Solar cell panel - used to convert sunlight into a direct current (DC)
  • Inverter - used to convert a direct current (DC) to an alternate current (AC)
